Two years ago, Building 34 at Corporate Woods was left unoccupied when its tenant moved to accommodate growth. Since then, the building has been fully leased and renovated with new features to help the new tenants thrive.
According to Wes Jenson, Senior Vice President at Stoltz Management, it was the perfect chance to attract new tenants with some significant upgrades.
“All the buildings are on a schedule for updates, but we hadn’t done much to Building 34 for several years,” said Jenson. “When the previous tenant moved out, we saw it as an opportunity to do some nice upgrades and bring it into the 21st century.”
Those upgrades included a renovated lobby with sliding glass doors, new finishes, and refurbished restrooms including granite countertops. But Jenson said the most popular additions are two outdoor collaborative areas featuring a fire pit, Wi-Fi, and speakers.
“Companies are looking for ways to increase collaboration, and we hope the new areas will help the employees and businesses be more successful,” said Jenson.
According to Jenson, the upgrades made the building attractive to prospective tenants. Financial Engines moved in first and completely redesigned their two floors, including an impressive “floating” staircase.
This spring, all the companies in Building 34 came together to celebrate the Royals’ home opener with a catered lunch, inflatable “batting cage,” and a game of catch. According to Greg Hall, Director of Client Services at symplr, it was an opportunity to meet their new neighbors.
“It was a fun way to take a break from work and celebrate opening day with food and activities that brought us all together,” said Hall. “We hope it will catch on throughout the office park and we can make it an annual event.”
Jenson said it’s exciting to see the positive impact Building 34 has had on its new tenants.
“It’s one more example of how companies can thrive at Corporate Woods, and we hope to do what we can to make all our tenants successful.”
